A twist on our famous banana bread recipe, banana nutella loaf is made extra indulgent with – you guessed it – a swirl of Nutella!

Banana Nutella loaf recipe from Baking with Granny. Sweet banana bread swirled with nutella. The perfect mid-morning snack.

Confession time… I’m not a big fan of Nutella. I know, shock-horror – a major chocoholic like myself, it doesn’t make sense. Don’t get me wrong, I will eat it when it’s part of recipe but I’m not a eating-it-from-the-jar kind of girl. That being said, I can appreciate the combo of Nutella and bananas, especially since my youngest, David, has recently taken a loving to “Butella”. Granny had mentioned this combo of Nutella in Banana Loaf and it seemed like the perfect treat for David.

Using our classic Banana Loaf recipe this is a really simple adaption that not only makes for an even tastier treat, it also gives the loaf a beautiful marbled finish. And as with any banana bakes, the riper your bananas, the tastier and more moist your finished product will be! What better way can you think to use up any black-spotted bananas than a Banana Nutella Loaf?

INGREDIENTS

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Pre-heat your oven to 190°c (170°c for a fan-assisted oven or Gas Mark 5) and grease & line a 2lb loaf tin with grease-proof paper.
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork. Add the sugar, butter/margarine, egg & vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • Gradually add the flour and baking powder, mixing until all combined.
  • Pour half the batter into your pre-lined loaf tin and smooth into the corners.
  • Warm your Nutella in the microwave for about 10-20 second to soften it slightly. Drizzle a couple of spoonfuls over the batter in the loaf tin before adding the remaining batter on top.
  • Drizzle the remaining Nutella to the top of your loaf before stirring the batter with a skewer to create the marbled affect.
  • Bake in your pre-heated oven for 40 minutes until golden on top. Leave to cool in the loaf tin and serve in slices.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

All my recipes are developed using a digital scale and the metric system (grams and millilitres). Cup measurements are available as a conversion but these, unfortunately, won't always be as accurate. For best results, I always recommend baking with a digital scale.

Really? Why is not specified how the butter should be added maybe melted or need to be room temperature should I guess ?

  3. Hi,
I really would love to try this recipe, but do you know how it would turn out if I replaced the egg with flaxseed?
I love baking but always struggle to find good recipes without eggs, and some do not work as well with a flax substitute!
    Thank you.

  4. Hi, I would like to substitute honey for the sugar. Can you recommend what amount I would use? Would I need to add anything else such as Baking Soda (Bicarbonate of Soda)? Thank you
