Almond Slice

May 8, 2017 By Amy 10 Comments

Almond Slice

A sure sign of a recipe being a winner is when half of it is gone before I even manage to get photos! I knew the other half would like Almond Slice, given his love for Mr Kipling Bakewell Slices I hadn’t anticipated making two batches of them within a few days.

Kinder Egg Brownies

April 11, 2017 By Amy 4 Comments

Kinder Egg Brownies

They’re a literal obsession in our house. Requested every day after nursery as a ‘special treat’, the number one choice of Easter Egg this year and even the most-viewed videos on Youtube. I just can’t seem to escape Kinder Eggs! So instead of resenting the amount of money I spend on these little surprise eggs and cursing the number of toys I stand on over the course of a day, I decided to make the most of their alluring taste and turn them into Kinder Egg Brownies!

Easter Rice Crispy Squares

Rice Crispy Squares

When it comes to Easter Baking there’s few things that can beat a Hot Cross Bun but due to their ease to make, tray bakes are a good competitor. Last year we shared our Maltesers Slice recipe with a Easter twist and this year we’ve done it again with these Easter themed Rice Crispy Squares.

Triple Chocolate Brownies

January 31, 2017 By Amy 17 Comments

Triple Chocolate Brownies

When it comes to the perfect brownies, I’m a bit of a snob. Only the richest, fudgiest, cavity-inducing ones will do. Lucky for you I decided to take on the mission of creating the very best brownies and after a little trial and error, I have done it! I give you my Tripe Chocolate Brownies.

Tiffin

August 19, 2016 By Amy 8 Comments

As seen at Foodies Festival Edinburgh 2017!

TiffinAnother day, another tray bake. I know I always say tray bakes are super easy but this one really does take the biscuit! And if we’re being completely honest, I’ve not felt myself recently and as such the desire to bake has just not been there. So I needed something super simple just like Tiffin to get back into my baking routine.Read More

Fruit Slice (Fly Cemetery)

June 3, 2016 By Amy 34 Comments

Fruit Slice Fly Cemetery

There’s something about us Scots and our love of questionable foods. Haggis is the obvious one (love it), Lorne sausage, macaroni pies, deep-fried Mars Bar and even Irn Bru cupcakes – Scotland is famed for it’s love of “unique” foods. And it could only be the Scots who would come up with a pet-name such as Fly Cemetery for a sweet little pastry treat like Fruit Slice.

Easter Maltesers Slice

March 13, 2016 By Amy 3 Comments

Maltesers Slice

When I first asked Granny to share her Maltesers Slice recipe with me, she rattled it off the top of her head without a second thought. This is another one of her recipes that has been well and truly perfected, to the point she knows it straight from memory. Just like Granny’s Fudge Slice recipe, this Maltesers Slice is super easy and super tasty.

Fudge Slice

Fudge Slice

If there’s one kind of recipe that no one can fail at, it’s a tray bake! Deceivingly named as the majority of them don’t require any baking, tray bakes are the perfect way to impress people with your baking skills, without actually having any. Fudge Slice is especially easy and as equally delicious.

Great Granny’s Coconut Ice

November 28, 2015 By Amy 10 Comments

Coconut Ice

There’s two things I think of when I think of my Granny (The Boys Great Granny): endless cups of tea & Coconut Ice. And not the pink & white condensed milk version that seems to come up whenever you search for a recipe. I’m talking about the good old fashioned Scottish sweet shop version with just 3 simple ingredients, boiled in a pot until it “spits at you”!Read More
