If there’s one bake that reminds me of Papa, it’s Belgian Buns. Whether it’s following a lunch at Greggs or buying them by the tray-full at Costco, he just can’t resist them! And who can blame him? Read More
It’s a staple in any British baking cupboard. Added to cakes, biscuits, puddings… Drizzled on pancakes, ice cream, porridge… Even used as a sandwich filler! But just what is Golden Syrup? And what can you use as an alternative if you can’t get your hands on a tin? Read More
These days I’m very firmly an Edinburgh lass, even appearing in the local paper! But I actually grew up down the coast a little in North Berwick, where Granny still lives today. As well as Granny (and Papa!), North Berwick is also home to Tantallon Castle, a mighty fortress that dates right back to the 1300’s and is the place of which these lovely little Tantallon Cakes get their name. One of my favourite things about my childhood home was the rows of raspberry bushes that were just outside our back garden. I used to love running around in the summer and gathering handfuls of fresh raspberries and eating them before we could get home and actually make something with them. I’m pretty sure prior to this, the last time I made Rock Buns was in my High School Home Economics class and I’m pretty sure they were more rock than they were bun.
Confession time… I’m a sugar addict. It will be of no surprise to those around me to be fair! From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed, I’m looking for my next sugar hit. It’s certainly not ideal but growing up in Scotland with sweet treats like Scottish Tablet, it’s really unavoidable.
I bought a bundt tin a few months back and couldn’t wait for it to arrive so I could get stuck in, baking beautiful cakes to share on here. But for whatever reason I’ve only really just gotten around to it with this beautiful Cherry Bundt Cake. That’s not to say I haven’t been pinning lots of inspirations over on my Pinterest! Read More
