Scottish Daily Mail

Baking with Granny feature in the Scottish Daily Mail newspaper.

If you follow Baking with Granny on Facebook you will have seen the excitement over the fact we recently done a 5-day feature of recipes with the Scottish Daily Mail. Unfortunately, our feature clashed with the arrival of the “Beast from East”, meaning we were unable to get the last few days worth of newspapers locally – a problem which I understand a lot of people had too!Read More

Custard Creams

Custard Creams - Recipe for the classic British biscuits. Sweet, crumbly, custard biscuits; sandwiched with buttercream.

There’s two treats that I remember my own Granny baking. The first one is of course her infamous Coconut Ice. And the second is Custard Creams. Even Granny raves about this recipe as being the best custard creams recipe she’s ever used. High praise indeed!Read More

Perkins

Perkins Biscuits Recipe - Baking with Granny. Traditional Scottish biscuits. Sweet, crunchy, oaty and loving topped with an almond.

Perkins biscuits was one that was requested on Facebook – one I hadn’t heard of before but of course, Granny had a recipe stashed away.Read More

Chocolate Digestives

Have you been watching Inside The Factory on BBC? It’s right up my little boys street, seeing as they want to know how everything in the world is made! The most recent one we watched was on Chocolate Digestive biscuits and of course, we had to try them for ourselves.

Tantallon Cakes

Tantallon Cakes

These days I’m very firmly an Edinburgh lass, even appearing in the local paper! But I actually grew up down the coast a little in North Berwick, where Granny still lives today. As well as Granny (and Papa!), North Berwick is also home to Tantallon Castle, a mighty fortress that dates right back to the 1300’s and is the place of which these lovely little Tantallon Cakes get their name.
